Driving ranges and practice facilities in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley

No club membership? You can still hit balls, putt and chip, or practice after dark at plenty of places around the valley. Below is every public-access range, putting course and simulator we could confirm on the facility’s own website (or an official college page) on Oct 19, 2026 (PT), with the prices and hours each one posts. Where a price or hours aren’t posted, we say so and give the phone number. It’s fall overseeding season, so several ranges are closed or just reopening; check the dates below. We didn’t find a public Topgolf (the closest thing is Indian Wells’ Toptracer night range) or a public range in the city of Coachella; the nearest is The Lights at Indio. Want to play too? See par-3 and executive courses, golf club rentals, overseeding closures and all courses.

The Golf Center at Palm Desert (Palm Desert)

The valley’s best-value practice spot, run by the Desert Recreation District: a large two-sided, night-lighted range, chipping greens, a practice bunker, a putting green and a 9-hole par-3 course. Open daily 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM (the range opens at 8:30 AM on Tuesdays), and the last bucket is sold 45 minutes before closing. Buckets are $12 (medium) and $17 (large). A 6-bucket range card is $60 for mediums, or $80 for larges through Dec 24 ($85 from Dec 26). Range rental clubs are $5. A 30-day Golf & Range pass (9 holes plus a large bucket every day) is $260. The par-3 course and grass practice areas were closed for overseeding Sep 23–Oct 18 and reopened today; 9 holes are $26 ($21 for seniors 55+, $15 for juniors under 17). (760) 779-1877.

💡 Practicing after work? Your best bets are The Golf Center at Palm Desert (lighted range until 9 PM, last bucket 8:15 PM) and The Lights at Indio (until 10 PM, $15 an hour), and from Oct 30, Shots in the Night in Indian Wells. For the cheapest regular practice, The Golf Center’s 6-bucket card works out to $10 a medium bucket ($60 for six), compared with $12 for a single. Terra Lago in Indio says its range and practice center are closed right now, so don’t plan on it. Prices change constantly and are shown as checked. See closures.
